MAY WE ALWAYS BE LIKE THE GEESE

I love October. To me, it is a gift from God. The beautiful fall colors paint our landscape. The smell of smoke from chimneys and campfires drifts through the air. The air is cool. We have more energy to get our outdoor chores done before winter comes.

It is the time of year we look to the sky and see geese flying overhead in their familiar V formation. They are heading south for the winter and honk as they go. Have you ever wondered why geese always fly in that V formation?

As each goose flaps its wings, it creates a wind draft for the birds following from behind. By flying in that formation, the whole flock adds 71% more flying range than if each goose flew alone.

Our church has a strong fellowship with one another. We will get where we are going because we are motivated by the faith and fellowship of one another. We all need to share the workload and use our God-given gifts to bless and help others.

Did you also know that you never see the same goose flying at the point of the V?When the lead goose gets tired, they rotate to the back, and another goose takes the point. Our folks who volunteer to help in any way they can are a blessing. We all need to thank them and help them in any way possible.

All that honking noise you hear. Well, that is the way they encourage each other. Like the geese, we are all on a journey. Our destination, as Christians, is heaven. May we always be encouraging and there for one another in whatever way possible.

If a goose gets sick or injured and flies to the ground, two geese will fly out of the formation and join that goose to watch over it until it can fly again or dies. Then, they try to find their flock to continue their journey with them.

We are a loving, caring, giving church. God is blessing us. We are always there for one another and people in the community. I pray we will always be like the geese.
