My wife and I were at an auction a few years ago, and before it started, the auctioneer said, “I know some of you who attend my auctions have told me you don’t like this. I’m sorry you don’t, but we start all our auctions with a prayer.”
He asked everyone to bow their heads and he said a beautiful heartfelt prayer asking God’s blessings on the auction and to be with the family members who lost a loved one.
It wasn’t done for show. A man who is bold in sharing his beliefs did it. May we all be so bold. Can you imagine what could happen here at our church, in this nation, in this world, or in our own family if we were all that bold?
The Bible gives us the Great Commission where Jesus said, “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” We are commanded to be bold.
We can all be as bold as that auctioneer who stood up before others and prayed and talked about his beliefs. We can be bold enough to bow our head and pray before we eat at a restaurant. We can be bold enough to share our beliefs with someone who is struggling or suffering. We can be bold enough to invite someone to come to our church or welcome visitors. We can be bold enough to volunteer to help around the church. Like the old gospel song says, “Let others see Jesus in you, let others see Jesus in you; Keep telling the story, be faithful and true, let others see Jesus in you.”
